AEP has informed New Boston officials that a planned power outage for necessary repairs will take place in the Village of New Boston from 4 am till 7 am on Saturday, August 17, 2019. The outage will affect the entire Village except from the Walmart store east to the corporation line. Village officials ask motorists to use extreme caution travelling through intersections as traffic signal lights will be affected
The community yard sale for residents of New Boston will be held
Saturday, June 1, 2019 between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Any resident may have a yard sale with no permit needed.
GORDMANS RETAILER HIRING AT NEW BOSTON STORE
New Boston Goody’s is one of twenty-five new Ohio stores rebranding to Gordmans Department Store. The apparel and home décor retailer Gordmans, opening in June, is hiring and will be having a job fair Wednesday, May 22 at the Goody’s store in New Boston. New Boston’s annual Christmas celebration will be held this year on Saturday, December 1.
The 25th anniversary of “Breakfast with Santa” will run from 9 am til 11 am.
Residents are invited for breakfast and children will have an opportunity to speak to Santa about their wish list and receive a gift.
The annual Christmas Parade will begin at 5 pm later that day. The parade route will be from the New Boston Shopping Center (Tractor Supply / Pat Catan’s) turning east onto Rhodes Avenue, north on Park Avenue, west on Gallia Street, south onto West Avenue, east on Rhodes Avenue and ending at the New Boston Community Center where cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Anyone interested in participating in the parade are encouraged to contact the Village of New Boston prior to the event to register their group.
New Boston Mayor Junior Williams and Village Council have announced that “Party at the Park II” festival is coming to New Boston’s Millbrook Park on Saturday, September 29. The event is returning after a very successful inaugural event last year. Mayor Williams states that local sponsors and volunteers make the event possible and hopes that the festival will remain for many years to come. Mayor Williams stated “The amount of positive feedback from the public last year certainly contributed to us making the decision to continue the event. Everyone had a great time and we expect the same this year. Local businesses and sponsors have made it possible to provide entertainment free of charge.”
Live music featuring the Shane Runion Band, Frank Grasso, Josh Stewart Band and more will be performing from noon till 8 pm followed by a fireworks display, Kids activities will be from noon till 6 pm and will include a Cartoonist, Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, Inflatables, Knockerball, Kiddie Barrell Train Rides, Games and Prizes. Concession stand, food vendors, craft exhibitors and more will be available. Southern Ohio Medical Center will be providing a wellness exhibit free to the public.
