Now he’s operating out of Edward Jones’ Wheelersburg location. He said there are five locations in the county, and all of the agents are licensed investment advisors.

“We’re a full service broker. We’re financial advisors, retirement, 401k, pretty much anything you can think of brokerage services. That’s what we do,” he said. “It’s pretty much case-by-case when a customer walks in the door. Whether you’re trying to find income for them or a return on investments.”

The building located on Rhodes Avenue in New Boston was first used by Front Row Video, until they closed the location in 2008; and was more recently used by Cabinet Warehouse. Chamberlin began negotiations for the building in January of this year.

“The thing you want to do is own your own building, so I was looking for a place that split the difference between Portsmouth and Wheelersburg. I was trying to find someone from the middle, because coming from the bank I had a lot of people all over the county. I felt this was more centralized and easy to get to,” Chamberlin said.

The building didn’t immediately fit his needs, so he began remodeling in April. He’s added windows to the building and a wrap-around awning. He’ll also be adding an LED-video sign to the side of the building. When it’s finished, the newly repurposed building will have four businesses inside.

In addition to Chamberlin’s Edward Jones, his father Tim Chamberlin will also have his CPA office in the New Boston building, as well as two other businesses which Chamberlin said are not final yet. Edward Jones will be open for customers near the end of June or very early July, but Chamberlin said the other businesses will be a few weeks more.

Chamberlin said he feels very comfortable moving his business to the village.

“I’m a Sciotoville boy originally, but the New Boston community — I’ve been around there my whole life. My mom has been principal (at New Boston School) for 25 years. It was an easy transition for me, and Ne Boston is perfect for the traffic we’re looking for. It’s a good community,” he said.

———-
From The Portsmouth Daily Times; June 1, 2011.

Ryan Chamberlin is anxiously adding the finishing touches to his new Edward Jones location in New Boston, opening in just a few short weeks.

[6
15
