New Boston Councilwoman Shelly Hickman-Aeh shares her background and objectives with residents. She calls for residents to actively participate in Village government and events.
Hickman-Aeh writes, “I have resided in New Boston for 30 of my 35 years. I graduated from Glenwood High School in 1990. I continued my education at Ohio University in Athens where I received my Bachelor’s of Business Administration double majoring in Marketing and General Business in 1994. I am currently employed at Shawnee State University. Throughout the years my diverse career paths have allotted me experience in a number of different areas, including both the private and public sector that benefit me as a councilperson.
I believe in people. I believe one person can make a difference. I believe in taking a stand. I am accepting of change and believe it is necessary for progress. I am the Chairperson of the Land and Building Committee, and I encourage all citizens to participate in our meetings.
My Objectives:
1. Clean up New Boston.
2. Increase law enforcement.
3. Encourage community pride.
4. To make educated and well informed decisions in regard to the Village of New Boston.
5. Look for new ways for the Village to generate revenue to allow for community development.
6. Increase community participation within the Village of New Boston. Government is only effective if it is held accountable by its citizens. I want all citizens to attend our council meetings on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 P.M.
I welcome contact with fellow citizens. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or e-mail anytime.”
