After more than 20 years of business on Gallia Street in Portsmouth, Rent-To-Own is moving to a larger location next to Kmart in New Boston.
The building location first opened in New Boston in 1978 as Western Sizzlin Steak House. More recently the location of Hong Kong Buffet and Mongolian BBQ, the building suffered major roof damages when strong storm winds tore across the area March 24. Rent-To-Own Store manager Jeremiah Stafford said they weren’t looking for New Boston specifically, but when the location suddenly came available they jumped at it.
Driving past the building in New Boston, it may look like it’s being torn down completely but in fact it’s not. Stafford said they are keeping most of the exterior walls but giving the rest of the building an extreme make-over.
“We’re also going to redo the parking lot,” he said.
All of the current employees are moving to New Boston with the store, Stafford added, and more could be added later if business supports them.
The new Rent-To-Own is expected to be open in late-fall.
