No left turn on U.S. 52
During its meeting on Oct. 20, New Boston Village Council voted to post a “no left turn” sign at the intersection of U.S. 52 West and River Street — at the New Boston Corporation Limit coming from Sciotoville, near the Portsmouth Water Filtration Plant. Signs will be posted at the intersection this week. Engineers from Geo-Graphics, Inc., said the intersection is among the top 10 most congested areas in the state of Ohio; with traffic up to 30,000 cars each day.
Dan Fetty appointed to council
Village Council adjourned to executive session during their meeting Oct. 6, and returned to appoint Dan Fetty as its newest member. Fetty will continue the unexpired term of former Councilwoman Shelly Hickman-Aeh, who resigned her seat in September. Fetty will serve the remainder of Hickman-Aeh’s elected term, which extends through 2011; after which time, voters will formally elect a member to that seat. Fetty was sworn-in by Mayor James Warren Oct. 7.
